Introducing HP DesignJet XT950 MFP

Hewlett Packard recently refreshed its DesignJet lineup of printers, and with that, introduced the all new XT950 as the next generation of the beloved T830 MFP.

You might be thinking to yourself "What could possibly be different?" or, "Oh, it's probably just a different colour or something", but you’d be far from the truth.

DesignJet XT950 is a complete rethink on the concept of an entry-level MFP device. Let's look at some of the differences in more detail.

Where T830 was a 4-colour dye‐based ink system, XT950 steps it up and replaced that dye-based system with a 4-colour pigmented one, meaning that now, your design documents have a UV protection and are water-resistant for use on the job site or in less than ideal environments.

Where T830 sported a spartan 1Gb of RAM memory, XT950 doubles that to 2Gb and adds a 3Gb reprint queue on top of it. All this to say that documents are moved from the workstation to the network and into the printer at a much faster rate when compared to its predecessor, and are available for reprints without additional processing.

Another really handy feature is the output finisher shown in the image above. HP recognizes that today's workflows often involve full-size and half-size prints coming out in the same job set, and with the advent of the free HP Click printing software, more and more players in the decentralized print environment are opting for set printing instead of one at a time.

With the XT950, when a mixed size set is submitted to the printer, larger documents that are printed from the roll media are deposited into the lower print basket, while half‐size documents that are automatically detected and fed from the onboard cut‐sheet drawer that supports up to 12" x 18" sheets, will be printed and deposited in the smaller catch basket located just above, eliminating the possibility of lost sheets in the set.

Lastly, this printer is now equipped with HP Wolf Security to help guard against intruders, viruses, hackers, and all the other unsavory players who are trying to interrupt your hard work.
